Flash Forward February

On the verge on 02/01/08 and my how time has passed since my last entry.  I don't think anybody reads these things anymore, but as the computer is closer than my sketch journal, I think this is a preferable option for the time being.  :)

Things are going well!  Over a long relationship, five applications to law school completed, a promotion and raise under my belt, and the prospect of buying a house on the horizon.  Never too early to invest! :-D  Additionally, I have even started a 401K!  It isn't much now, but hopefully by the time I want to utilize it interest will have worked its wonders.  I have been taking voice lessons and even had a solo perofrmance at Spivey Hall.  To top it all off, I just bought myself a new cashmere argyle sweater that goes well with my eyes and a night of facials, pedicures, and bubble bath bliss.

I hope all things start to go this smoothly. :)

A Tame Saturday Night Party

While I do love working with students, sometimes I get very frustrated when their whims become my Saturday night plans. I am glad to say that I have two students who have taken the initiative to run their own program- and they would be quite a cute couple come to think of it, so hopefully this will bring forth something more than I am anticipating, but on the whole I wish that I did not have to dedicate my Saturday plans to something they hope to be beneficial. They are throwing a fundraiser, and while it is a great idea, I get the feeling that the two organizing it and myself will be the only ones attending. Unfortunately there is a risk in throwing these sorts of things in that you have to buy food and wine for the people who come and contribute money to the cause. If you are the only one there, however, it is a waste of time and money. I just hope that this is more successful than I anticipate...

I Am In An Abusive LiveJournal Relationship...

I admit it. I am neglectful, cruel, forgetful, and abusive to my LiveJournal. I think it has officially been a year since my last post, and I should be shunned from the exciting world that is LiveJournal, but alas it has been forgiving and still allows me to sign in. I would think by now that it would have sought legal separation. I am glad that it has forgiven me. :)

Things are going well for me. I am working in Hartford, CT, at a school called Trinity College. I have my own apartment, a sweet kitten to come home to everyday (her name is Misha), a pretty new car (her name is Molly), and a sweet boyfriend who loves me very much (his name is Michael). I'm noticing a trend here with M names. :) I am slowly paying off my car and earning money for law school, which I plan on attending in 2007. In the meantime, I am just enjoying everyday life and taking things in. Life has seemed much smoother and more relaxing since graduation in May, and I am enjoying the extra reading, living, and fun time. In fact, I have done quite a bit of traveling since then! I have of course conquered Hartford, and other various areas of Connecticut. I have since been to Philadelphia, PA for a conference, and I really liked the atmosphere where I stayed at UPENN. I also recently went to Washington, D.C. for the first time, where I lobbied at Capitol Hill for various causes, including the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. In doing so I had my picture taken with Joe Leiberman and Howard Dean. I even walked two feet away from Hilary Clinton, and got quite a nifty picture of her, despite the fact that her bodyguard looked as if he was going to kick my bottom quite good. Look out for that guy- he has a mean death stare. I have been to Boston a couple of times and explored there, and even went to Maine recently for my very first skiing trip. That was really quite amazing. :) I had a lot of fun, and am still finding it hard to believe that I can actually afford to go skiing now. Me and Cali are planning another trip sometime soon.

Other than that, I am in the height of tax season. Ahhh, what fun. Can't you just smell the sarcasm there? It could be much worse though, I could have to use 1040 instead of 1040EZ. Shudder* That's a terrible thought. I am quite glad that I am not itemizing anything. I would never see the light of day I am sure. They really aren't that bad though. They almost seem like an exercise in independence. Not only are they good practice, but it is oddly gratifying to check that tiny little box indicating "independent." It's almost like a reassurance that even the government admits that you are a strong and independent person. Granted that is not what it signifies, it is satisfying nonetheless.

Oh! By the way! I have GREAT news! I have finally joined the twenty-first century! Well, technologically speaking anyways. I recently got my very first iPod (the Nano) and I am quiet in love with it. I have a digital camera now, too, and have been using it to document all the traveling and exploring I have done. It's been quite faithful, and it's so nice to instantly look back at all I have accomplished and experienced. I feel like I am making a photo album of my life, slowly but surely. Maybe when I am done experiencing new things and soaking up the world, I will finally sit down and put them together in a book to look back on and remember. But for now, I think that I am just enjoying finding things to put in my book- I plan on doing it for a long time to come. I wish everyone could feel this kind of freedom and independence. It's overwhelming and wonderful.

And now for the countdown...

Well, after one hell of a long week and too much work for my tastes, I am finally counting down by the hour till my freedom. Really, I'm pretty much done, other than going to the health center to figure out why I am still sick and visiting my teacher. Tommorrow me and Jonathan are going to hit up happy hour (probably to get "THE BOOT!") Which is totally awesome. I invited Carey too, maybe we can also pry Cali in. :) That would be one hell of a way to start the afternoon of spring break. Then I am going to my friends apartment where we are going to chill with her boyfriend David who is visiting from England. Now that's one hell of a dedicated boyfriend! Damn, Gina! I don't think I could even do that and I'm a girl. :) hehehe. Anywho, then I am home, there for my little brother Jason's surgery, then spending the night at Michelle's before two days in Hilton Head followed by two in Savannah for St. Patricks. SWEETNESS! I am so going to enjoy this. Did you know you can carry open containers of alcohol in Savannah as long as they're plastic? CHA! awesome, I know. Between the relaxation and the finishing of my present book (DaVinci Code which is SPECTACULAR) I am uber pumped. stress be gone!

Sickieness EWWWH

This weekend would have been awesome...had it not been for the worst cold known to mankind. I don't think it was flu because I wans't sore or anything in the least. In fact, the crazy thing is, it appears that I may have allergies. Say Wha? ~exactly my thoughts~ I have gone my whole life just fine- no allergies every! (well except for this crazy allergy to pool chlorine that just makes my eyes look like little tomatoes) And lo and behold- boom. Guess what you may have JUST developed out of the blue? Oh Yah. :( Bleh. Totally not kewl at all. Oh well, what can you do hunh? Other than that, I went home because Cali had an interview and baby shower in Atlanta, so I spent the weekend with the family and my bud. :) It was pretty sweet. Except for that whole headache/stuffy/throat killing me thing. hehehehe. I am feeling SO much better now. But if you are reading this~ a hug would definately make me feel much better should you see me soon. :) I could really use some cheering up! I hate feeling like this!!!!
Hope ur all doing well! I can't wait for spring break! ONE WEEK! THEN HILTON HEAD AND SAVANNAH FOR ST. PATTY'S!!!! WOO WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

My Poor Abused LJ!

Well my goodness. If it hasn't been forever and a century since I have written in you. I am sure my little journal, that nobody will read this, as it has been quite long since I have dared find time for you. Now the only reason I confess that I can manage is merely my best procrastination yet. Besides, typing is so much easier than writing in the regular journal. :)
Things are well. Busy- incredibly busy, but good. I keep trying to take everything in. You know, soak it all up before graduation. I apparently have less than 75 days according to one person's count. That freightens me and makes me so excited at the same time. I hate feeling so confused, but I suppose it is inevitable with something so determinant in one's life. A year off, probably as a JCSC, then law school for three years. That's another four years that I will be hundreds of miles, literally, away from home. Futher than yet. And while it seems like the biggest challenge yet, it also seems like the tiniest detail that I don't mind in the least. I do worry about the family though. So much seems to be going on right now. I am rather angry with dad, and feel bad for all the stress mom and Megan are dealing with. I love them sooo much. But I think I might just have to get away from everything if I want to accomplish all I need to. Bleh. I hate that thought. Let's write about something else, hunh lj?
In other news, life has been pretty amazing lately. I am trying to take things easier (doctor's orders to be less stressed) and have been taking every chance that I can. You live only once, and I am determined to live as much as possible. A little crazy? Of course I have been. It's been a blast. Cali, you were mostly my partner in crime. ;) She knows it all. Mwa HA HA. Two words for you chica: P&Chicken and HOUSTIN!!!! OK- this thing is getting a lot longer than I thought. Bleh- reality calls. I'll check ya later lj. Take it easy! YO!

OK, so this isn't quite a quote, but it's kind of like a riddle-esque question

Q:  What do stonehenge, leprechauns, and ten inches hav in common?

A:  enter movie name here:  ______________
